KinderOptics has been a work in progress for a couple of years although mainly in my thoughts. I have been a Licensed Optician for over twenty years and over the years I have seen such a need for parents to receive help when their child suddenly needs eyeglasses. I have seen so many people in the optical industry not want to help or deal with parents and children. They are usually fit with ill fitting eyewear and sent on their way. Parents are left frustrated with their children complaining and crying over uncomfortable glasses. Parents become frustrated and it becomes a fight at home to get the child to wear his or her eyeglasses. A lot of the time it is just the glasses to do fit properly and the child is uncomfortable wearing them. Who wants to wear something that is bothersome?!
So many times my hands have been tied in trying to help these frustrated parents and their children. Companies not having and not being able to order what I know the child should have. Companies just want to make the sell and not go out of their way to provide any extra services especially not special ordering anything. It is a shame how over the years I have seen the optical industry turn from a healthcare industry that was there to help people to an industry that is retail and is all about sell, sell, sell. I did not become an Optician to be a retail salesperson. Walking in to a local optical a finding a wide selection of speciallty eyewear for children and infants and special needs children is pretty much impossible. Also seeing employees cringe at having to fit and work with children and especially when the child may be a special needs child. I have seen employees practically run to back of office! Also the person who is fitting your child for eyeglasses most of the time in local optical establishments is usually is not even a Licensed Optician and has never had optical experience before! Ltterally the person could have been working at a fast food restaurant the day before!
I am a Licensed Optician, I love what I do, I love helping people, I love a challenge to find just what someone needs, I love children, and I am a mom so I understand how a parent feels. I have just felt that need to want to have a small business to help parents get the right eyewear for their child and to educate them on taking care of thier childs eyes. I want parents to have a selection of different types of eyewear to choose from and to have a knowledgable, experienced person to help them. So, I decided to slowly go forward and open KinderOptics on-line. Unlike other on-line opticals I am a Licensed Optician with experience and I care. I am not just an order-taker. My dream is to one day have a brick and mortar actual office. But until then I am here behind my computer and my telephone helping in any way that I can. If you are local here in St. Peterburg, Florida I can even arrange to personally fit your child in person. Give KinderOptics and myself a chance to help your child be comfortable in his or her eyewear. I will do everything I can to make everyone happy.

I have a AS in Opticianry and a BA in Business Management.
I have been happily married to my husband for 13 years. We have a beautiful, smart daughter who is 9 years old and in the fourth grade. She is the joy of our lives! We love animals and have a dog which is a Chihuahua, a cat which is a big, fluffy orange tabby, a Guinea Pig, a Leopard Gecko, and a large aquarium full of fish and snails. I love living here in St. Petersburg, I love the water and the beach, and I love going to Disney World all with my family. Some days it is stressful to juggle being a working mom and wife, a business owner, and everything that goes with all those. But, I would not trade any of it for the world! And, secretly, I think I function and get things done best under stress! (Shhh, don’t tell!)
